More info

100% deep sea water from the Japanese Sea by Sado, appox. 3600m of the coast.

Deep seawater is water from depths of 200-300 m and deeper, where sunlight does not reach. There, photosynthesis by phytoplankton does not take place and the decomposition power of bacteria results in seawater rich in inorganic nutrients. Because sunlight does not reach the water, the water temperature is low and constant throughout the year and does not mix with surface seawater, which has a different specific gravity, thus maintaining its cleanliness.

Sado deep sea water, the raw material for Sado deep sea salt (Mishio), is pumped up from a depth of 330m or deeper, approximately 3,600m off the coast of Tada, Sado Island, and is used for a variety of purposes.

About Sado's Deep Sea Water

Clean, unpolluted water
The water is clean because there is little exposure to man-made pollutants and chemicals from land and air.

Low and stable water temperature
The water temperature is lower than that of surface water because sunlight does not reach the depths below 200 m, and is stable throughout the year.

Rich in nutrients essential for plant growth
Inorganic nutrients such as nitrogen, nitrate and phosphate, which are essential for plant growth, are contained in concentrations several dozen times higher than in surface water, making it suitable for fish and seaweed farming.

Mellow the taste
It is matured because it is circulated slowly over a long period of time under a water pressure of more than 20 bar. It is believed that this is the reason why it is said to have a mellow taste when used in foodstuffs.

Contains a good balance of essential minerals
Seawater contains a good balance of essential trace elements and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and sodium, which are necessary for living organisms to survive.
